Once upon a time, in the giant Theatre of Tales, there lived a group of tiny letters called the “lowercases.” They loved to perform, but the theatre was dark, and the stage crowded.

Whenever it was time to start a new story, the lowercases felt very nervous. They huddled together in the shadows of the heavy red curtains. “It is so dark in here,” they whispered. “How will the audience know that our story is starting? We are too small to be seen!”
Just then, they heard a loud BOOM! A giant light swung across the ceiling. It was the Spotlight.
“Don’t worry, little ones!” a big, booming voice called out. It was the Capital Letter. He was tall and bright, wearing a shiny gold crown.

“I am the Sentence Starter,” he said, stepping right into the centre of the stage. “When I stand up tall at the beginning, I catch the light! I show everyone exactly where the magic starts.”
The lowercases cheered! Now, every time a story began, a tall Capital Letter would jump into the spotlight first. He held the door open so the audience could see the way, and all the little lowercases followed behind him in a happy line.
From then on, no story ever got lost in the dark again.
